Description: Cosmos Archaeology Pty Ltd were commissioned by NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service to undertake archaeological monitoring of works at the former Hill End Rural Fire Services Shed. The works were undertaken as part of the Hill End Historic Site Conservation Management Plan (March 2013), approved by the NSW Heritage Council. 1 The works that were monitored provide an adaptive reuse for the former Rural Fire Services Shed as a centrally located Information Centre including interpretation. Section 60 Approval No: S60/2014/159 was issued for the works and this monitoring report finally completes the conditions of approval. The works to be monitored by an archaeologistunder this Permit are referred to throughout as Stage 1 works. A separate S60 was issued to conclude the works, which will be addressed in a separate report as Stage 2 of the RFSS. The works undertaken and addressed herein were minor works for the property. They were prepared in conjunction with an archaeological assessment and the services of a heritage architect. The specific works had been assessed as part of the Section 60 application by an archaeological assessment and an archaeological research design.
