S has been commissioned by UrbanGrowth NSW to prepare a historic archaeological assessment and Statement of Heritage Impact for proposed geotechnical investigations at Civic Railway Workshops and Newcastle Railway Station. This report has been prepared to assess impacts and provide necessary documentation to support applications for s139(4) exceptions (Type 1B) and s57(2) (Type 4) exemptions under the Heritage Act 1977. The Project Area encompasses the heavy rail corridor and some adjacent lands between Newcastle Railway Station and Worth Place in the Newcastle local government area. However, this report focuses on the portions of land which are covered by State Heritage Register Listings and thus require heritage permits for the proposed works, as well as adjacent areas with archaeological potential.-
