The decision in 1876 to terminate the new Western Railway lire at Blayney , 15 km north-west of Carcoar. The report describe~ and illustrates in line drawings many of the 48 buildings in the township that are listed by the Trust. Mr. Latona also describes many other elements which contribute to the character of the township, important among which is the landscape setting - the strongly defined Belubula River Valley flanked on all sides by steep hills.
